San Francisco's "Opening Day On The Bay"

The sailing season got underway in San Francisco Bay on April 26, 2003, with the annual Opening Day on The Bay event. A highlight of her maiden voyage along the California coast, Irving Johnson had the honor of leading a parade of sail from the Golden Gate Bridge to Pier 39, officially opening sailing season on the Bay.

Brigantines.Com visitor Mark Wieber was aboard his own boat, the Mirage, and sent us several photographs of Irving as she made her way into the Bay. See them HERE.

L.A. Maritime Institute

Tall Ships LA took place in the summer of 2005, a major celebration for San Pedro and the Twin Brigantines. Organized by the Los Angeles Maritime Institute and the Port of Los Angeles, the event featured a number of tall ships including some Class A vessels. Visit the site HERE.
